The Tucson Clay Co-op is now offering indoor & outdoor wheel throwing and hand building for adults.(all classes are at 3326 N Dodge) We are also offering "Play With Clay" (listed under adult classes, kids, & family - 3 hours, one time) (the Play with Clay are held at both locations)

Students must buy their clay from us - no outside clay.
Both indoor and outdoor students have practice hours . - Monday, Wednesday Saturday and Sunday Noon to 3pm. That's 96 hours of practice time for $40 for indoor students
and free for outdoor students.
CANCELLATIONS will be refunded if you cancel 7 days before your class begins. There will be no refunds after the class has started. If a class is filled or you are unable to enroll on line please email tucsonclaycoop@yahoo.com

Outside Wheel Throwing and Hand Building
with free outdoor practice hours: M W S S Noon to 3pm
The teacher will be available to answer questions, give guidance & do demonstrations. Usually first class is hand building, second class is a wheel lesson and third class etc are individualized depending on what you want to pursue.
Each wheel has its own portable swamp cooler & wheels are under shade.

Play With Clay
It is an opportunity to play with clay at our second spacious location (during the hot months) or under a canopy in our front yard (weather permitting) or on our clay mobile bus for 3 hours. There is 2 potters wheels, 2 tables, a bag of clay, aprons and tools.
Once you sign up, you will be sent a video of Maxine's beginner wheel lesson by email.
Price is for maximum of 3 people, if you need more (maximum 6) it is $25 additional per person.
$50 for 3 hours with no instructor present (Former clay experience required)
$100 with one hour of instruction (usually during your first hour) Pay $50 two times.

Cost of firing: It is not necessary to save your work, but if you want
small pieces can be fired and glazed (color of your choice) for $5 (up to 5X5X5 inches) more for larger work.
Cancellation policy: full refund or credit if cancelled 7 days in advance.
50% if cancelled 3 days in advance, no refund if cancelled less than 3 days
in advance, unless we are able to fill your scheduled time.

Inside Classes
please buy clay and a tool kit if you are a new student ahead of class, so your teacher does not need to take class time on business your first class. Your teacher will give you your clay and tools at your first class. Our extra large Tucson Clay Co-op tee shirts can be used as attractive aprons (available on our on-line store)

If you want any of these clays as soft as our recycled clay you can
add one cup of water to your bag of clay, double bag and totally submerge in water for a day (or til it is as soft as you like it). This is the easiest way to soften clay.

Only purchase recycled if you are a new beginner student registered in either a beginner or new level class. Your teacher will give you your tool kit (available below) and your clay the first day of your class. (Right now we have no recycled clay for outside people. or returning students) If you want soft clay,we recommend buying speckle buff. The easiest way to soften it is to add one cup of water to the bag, then put it in another clay bag, submerge your clay in a 5 gallon bucket so it is completely covered with water, until it is as soft as you want it (usually 24 hours) This is the easiest way to soften clay!!!!
